OREVAC® 18780  : PP concentrate tie resin

  1.  Concentrate tie layer for EVOH and PA barrier structures

OREVAC® 18780 is a maleic anhydride-grafted polypropylene (PP-g-MAH) concentrate developed to provide strong adhesion to barrier materials such as EVOH and polyamide (PA).

Unlike ready-to-use tie resins, OREVAC® 18780 is designed to be blended with polypropylene before feeding, typically at 20–25% dosage. Thanks to its high melt flow rate, the resin disperses efficiently into the PP matrix, ensuring homogeneous blends, reliable adhesion, and stable processing.

By adjusting the PP matrix (random PP recommended) and dosage, converters can reach the optimal cost/processing/performance balance, making OREVAC® 18780 a unique and competitive solution in cost-driven rigid packaging markets.

  • Applications

OREVAC® 18780  is recommended for use in rigid barrier structures produced by sheet calendering or blow molding, where adhesion to EVOH or PA is essential. It is particularly suited for:

  • Thermoformed multilayer trays and cups
(e.g., fresh food, ready meals, coffee capsules)
  • Thermoforming films
  • Blow-molded bottles and containers
    (e.g., condiments, sauces, personal care)
  • Eco-designed mono-material PP packaging, improving recyclability

Flexibility: Dosage and PP matrix selection allow tuning of cost/performance balance

High fluidity: Ensures rapid melting and efficient dispersion into lower MFI PP matrices

Proven versatility: Reliable across extrusion blow molding, sheet extrusion, and cast extrusion with various PP types and MFI ranges

Excellent adhesion to EVOH and PA barrier layers

Strong bonding to homo-, random-, and impact copolymer PP substrates

No odor or color issues

Suitable for thermal resistance needs (hot fill, pasteurization, retort)

PFAS Free

Supports eco-design with recyclable mono-material PP structures

  • Proven versatility – Wide range of extrusion processes covered

OREVAC® 18780 has demonstrated performance across multiple extrusion technologies and PP matrices:

  • Extrusion Blow Molding: Bottles and cups with low-MFI PP (1–2) at 20-30% dosage
  • Sheet Extrusion: PP/EVOH barrier sheets with medium-MFI Homo-PP (3–4) at 20% dosage
  • Cast Extrusion: Retort and thermoformable films with Random Copo-PP (6–8) at 25% dosage
